Kindergarten Kids'
Class |
| |
| |
We don’t push - we
guide |
| |
| |
The
kindergarten age is a wide range and
so we consider the “developmental
readiness” of each child in every
class when we plan lessons. We NEVER
push a child to do anything that is
beyond her or his physical,
emotional or cognitive ability. If
we play a competitive game we keep
it low key where winning is not such
a big deal and neither is losing.
The goal is always learning. Some of
the games we play are competitive
and some are cooperative. We don’t
make it a big deal because we prefer
to teach kids to realize by
themselves, that “sometimes we win
and other times we don’t”. Rather
than unduly concentrate on
competition and rivalry we want to
encourage cooperation. |

We are called Rainbow
but it’s not a Pollyanna world |
| |
| |
We
don’t live in a perfect world and so
we believe in reflecting real life
in our classes but with a hopeful
theme. Most of all, my experience
has shown me that kids want to just
be happy! If they are happy, and we
put the right fun challenges in
their path, they will learn. |
| |
We don’t teach your
child what to see |
| |
We
accept their particular view of the
world. Their model of the world is
actually very precious. Hair can be
blue, grass can be black and dogs
can be bigger than people! And why
not? |
| |
| |
| |
We accept that kids are
kids |
| |
| |
Kids
at this age can often be willful,
stubborn and uncooperative because
they like to think their own way
which means reasoning with them is
really hard. That’s fine with us! We
actually want them to be
independent. We think they are
perfect in their own way.
This
age group likes to move, move, and
move! They are primarily
right-brained learners which mean
the kids like: |
| |
Rainbow’s very colorful classroom, |
our
use of rhythm, dance and gesture, |
the
music, chant and finger-plays that
we do, |
| |
| |
These things all
work together to make this class ideal for your
little ones. And, best of all, we play GAMES
because we have lots of educational TOYS and
BOOKS! Yippee! |
| |
| |
| |
Kids can join this
class at any time at all! |
| |
| |
We
have a spiral curriculum. |
We revisit the language points at
various times many times during the
year but the major themes are
different. Other curriculums allow
your kids to forget what they
learned at the start of the year. We
keep it all fresh and at the front
of their minds! |
We
encounter similar points in
different ways so that kids can
attack the problem for themselves
but from many different angles. |
| |
| |
If
your kids start and do one year with us
they will have a greater density of
practice and better memory retention
because of this curriculum design. |
| |
There is lots of repetition but
every lesson has fresh, new things. |
